The Parish Council strives to provide a full range of information and resources to benefit all members of the community and to this end we welcome your news and views. Whether you are a resident, newcomer or visitor to the parish, don't hesitate to contact us. We hope you will find the website interesting, informative, useful and easy to access. Language translation (bottom left) is now available. There are two broad sections to the website. The first deals with all aspects of the council's work including quarterly newsletters, responsibilities, powers and conduct. The second describes the principal historical and geographical details about the parish together with information about open spaces, recreational and general amenities. Remember that members of the Parish Council are elected locally and mostly live in the community they serve. They have regular meetings, many of which the public are entitled and encouraged to attend. These are opportunities to discus matters of local importance about which the Council then makes decisions or recommendations. These include planning, public amenities, funding for local projects, community initiatives and much more. Their work is driven by local needs and the views of local residents for whom they provide a very 'local' and personal interface with more remote authorities such as Rushcliffe Borough and Nottinghamshire County Council. Having local knowledge and being part of the community they represent makes them perfectly placed to fulfill this role. However, they can serve the community more effectively if they have support and feedback from that community. There are easy ways to do this, namely by attending Parish Council meetings and if necessary, use your right to address the meeting. Make sure that you know who your local representatives are and when you receive a Parish Council Newsletter through your door, don't simply recycle it - newsletters provide important news covering all aspects of the Parish Council and the community. You can also read it on the website or download it to your computer using the option on the lef or for past editions, visit the 'download' section. |
